A Baking Love Story

I'm sure by now you are all wondering why and how I came to love baking so much. I mean I'm in college. Aren't I supposed to be living off of microwavable mac n' cheese and local Mexican cuisine? Baking tends to be a skill that is acquired by the world's older residents. Or, more specifically, by those that at least have access to a complete kitchen. Well, here's the thing, I come from a family of bakers. Not professional bakers, but southern bakers. In my opinion, they're practically the same thing.
You see, my grandparents have been cooking my family weekly Sunday dinners since I basically exited the womb. I can't remember a time when my Memaw wasn't cooking. She would make fried chicken, meatloaf, biscuits and gravy you name it. She baked chocolate pies, and homemade cookies and makes the best pineapple cake I've ever had. And from a young age, I always watched her. I watched her carefully crack each egg, and add each ingredient. I watched her mix things by hand, until her mixture was perfectly smooth. So, that's why I love baking. Because I love her.
